Background of Hajiganj Upazila.
Hajiganj is known as the oldest trading center in the eastern part of Meghna. Nearly eleven Bengalis, an elder named Haji Makhim Uddin (R), came to this area with his family from the Holy Arabian land to spread Islam. There was a pond in the middle of the present mosque on the north side of Chandpur-Comilla road. In the northwest corner of the pond he set up an attic. Within a few years, the message of the arrival of Auliye Kamel began to spread slowly. Haji Munir Uddin (Manai Haji), a descendant of Hazrat Mukim Uddin (R) of Pamer Kamel, used to pay homage to the devotees for carrying out the religious activities of the devotees who came from the vicinity of the patriarchal Khanaka Sharif (known as Huzura). He lived a simple life and established a shop at Sunnah, north of Nakhal, in order to establish a business center for the Prophet as a Messenger. Within a few days, the reputation of this essential shop spreads like a folk tale. Later, the shop was renamed Hajiganj Bazar from Haji Sahib's shop.
